Guest Anonymous
No dog is too old to be fixed in my opinion! Dogs get spayed and neutered daily at ages older than 3.. :D

Guest Anonymous
3 yrs. is not too old to be neutered. I had a 7 yr. old neutered and he did fine. Although it is much better for them to be spayed /neutered around 6 mos. (shelters are doing it as early as 7/8 wks. w/no problems), this lessens the chances of developing cancer of the reproductive organs. As to the cost, you can usually get spay/neuter certificates from SPCA's, shelters, or other animal organizations which are accepted by certain (not all) vets and greatly reduce the cost. Most SPCA's have spay/neuter facilities, especially near large cities.

sixjollydogs
A three year old dog is not too old to neuter a long as he is in good health. Please have it done.

Aroura
that age is fine 3 years is not too old u can get ur dogs spayed or neutered at 3 years actually i heard its safer that way
Not too sure about male dogs, but if females go through their first season before being spayed their chance of getting breast cancer increases by 40% and each heat after that it increases more, I will get Lily spayed once she has a litter or two. I'm not too sure about male dogs, but I wouldn't say it is safer that way, but there is certainly no more risk than usual! Get him spayed, I'm sure you'll find yourself with a much nicer dog :D
